When I started Cute Capsule Life, my daily routine included at least a few minutes of decluttering. But blogging takes a lot of time, and I haven’t been able to keep up with both my blogging goals and my decluttering goals. Ironically, I started blogging in order to help me stay on track with a simplified lifestyle, not just with my closet but overall.
So this week I started fresh with my decluttering. I started with this roll-top desk that is in our kitchen. If our house has a dumping zone, this is it. Set right inside our entry way, it is also easy to hide the mess by closing the desk top.
The top drawer is a particular problem though because it has gotten overly full of various office supplies. I don’t know where all the pens and pencils come from – they just seem to multiply like rabbits. The brown organizer in the middle is one I’ve had since elementary school and it has seen better days.
Kevin suggested that we purchase a larger, adjustable drawer organizer, so ordered this highly rated one from Amazon. It has a rating of 4.8 out of 5, with over 1,200 reviews, so I hope it will hold up well (picture below is from the Amazon listing). It is very sturdy, and quite heavy. Our drawer isn’t larger enough to use the expansion on it, but I like we have that option in case we decide to relocate the desk contents to another spot.
Here is how it turned out:
And here is the rest of the desk:
I found all of this that needs another home, either put away or thrown away:
Now back to the clothes! I do still love my capsule wardrobe, especially when I get to wear outfits like this one, with a super-soft bell-sleeve t-shirt and olive skinny jeans, accented with earrings, a Tory Burch crossbody purse, and black wedge ankle boots.
This article is one of a series showing the many outfit combinations I’ve designed from my 24-piece Fall/Winter Capsule wardrobe.
