As the holidays approach, I’m like many of you and preparing my home with some seasonal decorations, so I’m linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals to share them with you.
Honestly, this used to look a lot different for me, but my approach now is very simple. While I love the beauty of holiday decor, I don’t want the clutter of storing it year-round or the cost of purchasing it, so my holiday decor is limited to the pieces most important to my family, and includes quite a few sentimental pieces.
If you read my post yesterday, you know about our Christmas tree, stockings and many of our family traditions. I didn’t display most of my ornaments this year due to our new feline family members. And I decided that is the right call as they have both tried to climb the tree, knocked one of the fake branches off, pushed lights onto the floor, and batted as many of the ornaments with their paws as they can reach. The tree is their new favorite hiding place.
Stockings are a big deal at our house – they are always full of goodies and always the first item we open. We hang ours on the mantle using hooks I found at last year.
Aiden loves Nutcrackers, and so we have several to display at Christmastime. The boys actually get these down and play with them quite a bit during the season as well.
Aiden even has this large nutcracker that normally stays in his bedroom (I don’t think it is available any more, but here is a similar nutcracker).
Finally, I inherited this Santa Light up decoration from my parents. It was my favorite as a child, and I was so happy to have him.
That’s it – that’s all the decorating I plan to do this year!
In keeping with the simplicity of holiday decorating, today’s outfit is simple but classic, pairing a chambray shirt with black skinny jeans and set off with a leopard scarf, Tory Burch bag, and riding boots.
This article is one of a series showing the many outfit combinations I’ve designed from my 24-piece Fall/Winter Capsule wardrobe.
Here are the items from today’s outfit:
