Earlier this month I spent a whole week in in training at my employer’s headquarters. I frequently travel to the headquarters but most trips are 2-4 nights. Even with 5 nights away, in winter when layers are needed, I was able to limit myself to one carry-on sized suitcase. Here are the outfits from the capsule which I used as my travel capsule (with some modifications I’ll describe):
Peplum top // Skinny Jeans // Converse shoes // Cognac tote
Long Sleeve Striped t-shirt // Quilted Vest // Skinny Blue Jeans // Leopard Scarf // Tall Wedge Boots
In total those outfits required 3 shirts, 1 pair of jeans, and a vest. I substituted a pair of brown riding boots for all the shoes, and I left the leopard scarf at home.
Additionally I also packed:
- Workout clothes and tennis shoes (I used the hotel fitness center each evening)
- A puffer vest that I use as a jacket (I’d been warned the classroom was cold and wanted the option of an extra layer)
- Makeup bag
- Back-up pair of blue jeans (I alternated between to the two pairs)
- Flat Iron
Even with all this I still had room in my suitcase for a book and some snacks. Packing light requires some planning, but having the capsule wardrobe made this so much easier. I was SO glad I didn’t have to make multiple trips to the car for my luggage when I arrived during a snowstorm.
If anyone noticed that I wore two of my shirts twice, they didn’t say a word about it. My guess is they didn’t notice.
