Have you made your own gift list yet? I shared mine last week, and it actually ended up having quite a few items on it. Until the last year or two, Christmas was a time for giving and receiving SO many gifts. My philosophy has changed and I’ve found that I want to own less and less. That doesn’t mean that I can’t make a wish list, but it does mean I may have stress if I actually received everything on it (at least by making a wish list, the items I receive tend to be what I truly want).
My sister-in-law has used the “want, need, wear, read” method of gift giving. each member of the family receives one item they want, one item they need, one item to wear, and one book to read. If I limited my list to “want, need, wear, read”, here is what I’d choose (linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals for her Tuesday Show and Tell topic).
Want – I’ve had my eye on a pair of rain boots for a while now. Originally, I planned to ask for these beautiful red glossy Hunter boots, but they are so expensive for something I’m going to use for stomping in mud puddles!
And then I found this pair on Amazon, and they are too cute! I love everything about them, so I decided these would be my “want” (I know they are a “wear” too).
My need item are a set of wool dryer balls. I’ve heard great things about them, and I’m hoping we’ll never need to buy dryer sheets or fabric softener again.
My wear item is this pair of cozy slippers. It has been cold this month in Kentucky, and I’m cold even when the weather isn’t cold, so I go through a pair of slippers per year.
My read item is a little bit of a stretch. I love to read, but I rarely ask for books because we are big library users. We go to the library once a week, and turn it into an outing eating dinner out with my in-laws. So instead of a book to read, I chose a book to write in – a planner:
I’d love to hear what you’d choose for want/need/wear/read in the comments!
Now that we have that out of the way, here is all about my capsule wardrobe outfit today.
My outfit is a Herringbone vest over a long sleeve red top with skinny jeans, black wedge booties and a necklace.
This article is one of a series showing the many outfit combinations I’ve designed from my 24-piece Fall/Winter Capsule wardrobe.
Here are the items from today’s outfit:
