This week I’m sharing holiday gift guides. Did you see yesterday’s post on gift ideas from my capsule wardrobe? Today, I’m sharing what’s on my want list this year. In addition to my husband and sons, I exchange gifts with my brother, sister, parents and in-laws. We share gift ideas with each other, which I greatly appreciate since it makes my shopping easier and ensures that the gifts I receive are items I truly want.
It used to be so easy to think of gift ideas for myself, but for the last several years, as I’ve worked to simplify our lives, reduce our clutter, and moved to a capsule wardrobe, my list has gotten shorter and shorter.
I often ask for a pair or two of shoes, and this year, there are two pairs that I’ve fallen in love with but have patiently waited for the holidays to roll around to ask for these.
I’ve seen so many cute outfits on blogs and Pinterest with these red glossy Hunter rain boots, and I really would like to wear them!
But then I also found these on Amazon recently, and they are so adorable…I can’t decide which pair to ask for.
The other pair I’d like is this peep-toe bootie:
Each year for the last several, I’ve asked for a pair of house slippers. Before we moved to Kentucky last year, our house in Illinois had almost all hardwood and tile floors. My feet would get so cold until I started wearing slippers all the time. Even though we have more carpet in our new home, I still wear slippers whenever I’m at home. This year I want to try out a pair of moccasin slippers like these:
I also have a few items of clothing on my list. Having a capsule wardrobe, I don’t need any clothes for my daily wear, but I do need a new lighter weight jacket and I’ve been wanting to try a blanket scarf as an accessory, so both have made my list this year. Since Stitch Fix is waiving styling fees in November, I requested the utility jacket in the first fix I’ve ordered in several years; hopefully they find me a great one – if they do, my husband can give it to me; I’ll even wrap it for him!
I also use the holidays to ask for some items that I would otherwise buy myself, such as my favorite moisturizer, cleanser, hand lotion, and eye cream.
I have a few household items I would also like. We’re in the process of switching to Corelle dishes. My husband had a set of 6 place settings when we married, and my mom recently gave me another 6 place settings. The two sets don’t match, but I’m not picky about that. We frequently have family gatherings of 18 people at our house, so I’d like one more set of 6 place settings.
I also want some organizers for my kitchen cabinets to hold the dishes and coffee cups more efficiently:
I’ve also been wanting to try switching to dryer balls instead of dryer sheets. I’ve heard they are really loud though, so I’m not sure it will work for us.
My husband often gives me an experience gift, such as a long weekend trip somewhere, or tickets to a concert or play. I am considering suggesting an order from Stitch Fix this year. It has been a few years since I’ve used Stitch Fix, but I really liked some of the items they sent me. I’d like to give them a try for some updated items for my spring capsule wardrobe. If you haven’t tried Stitch Fix, now is the best time. Normally, you pay a stylist fee unless you decide to keep at least one item they send you, but through the end of November, Stitch Fix will waive the stylist fee if you order through this link.
The last thing on my list is a planner for 2018. I’m hoping it will help me stay more organized next year, and plan on the go.
So that’s it – the ideas I’m giving my family for me this year. What’s on your list this year?
