This week I’m sharing holiday gift guides, as the holidays are rapidly approaching. Stockings are a Christmas tradition for my family when I was growing up, and I’ve tried to carry that forward with my own family. It has been an adjustment for my husband – I don’t think they had stockings in his family. So I’ve found it best to give him some ideas even for the stockings.
Stocking stuffers in our family have to be useful, not clutter. Most of them are either consumable or practical. I usually include some holiday candy. My personal favorite is the chocolate orange. Kevin gets me one every year.
Kevin’s favorite is peanut butter cups,
and the kids love these sour Airheads.
Hot chocolate is another holiday tradition for our family, so each member of the family has a packet or two of hot chocolate mix in their stocking.
Fingernail clippers are another favorite. I realize these aren’t technically consumable, but they are worse than socks my household – they disappear never to be seen again. Last year, I put 5 clippers in Kevin’s stocking as a joke because he gets so frustrated when his clippers disappear. I think he is down to just one pair left. Maybe our cats are stealing them…
Office products are another stocking popular gift at my house. I give my husband one of his favorite pens nearly every year.
Each year I pick a couple different writing utensils for Aiden and Cade. This year, I plan to give them this classic 4-color pen:
and each of them will get a couple of invisible ink pens too. I know they are going to have fun writing secret notes with these.
We each will have a notebook of some kind in our stockings too. I am asking Kevin to get me this planner:
Kevin is getting a 5×7 spiral notebook:
Aiden and Cade will love these sketchbooks:
This year, I also found these key chain flashlights. I’m buying a multi-pack and dividing them up between all of us.
Kevin and I each need some new gloves.
I want to get Aiden and Cade these hat/scarf sets.
I’m also getting Kevin this umbrella:
That’s the plan for our stockings. I think everyone will be happy this year!
