Summer is almost over, and I’ve word the outfits I planned in my summer capsule wardrobe. Today I’m going to share which were my favorites and which were flops.
Choosing my favorites was actually pretty hard to do. Since I really love every item in my capsule, and they all fit me well, I like almost all the outfits in my capsule plan. But there were a few that stood out, and I picked three of them as my favorites.
This fantastic outfit came from week 2 of my plan. I love the bell sleeve tee (so soft and comfy). It is sticking around for the fall capsule I’m working on right now. The necklace and shoes make this outfit though. I’ve worn these red heels all summer and love them more every time. I even wore this outfit to my corporate office on a business trip that happened during week 2. The dress code is casual, but as a manager, I try to dress closer to business casual on the few trips I make to Corporate each year. Not sure this would qualify, but I did receive a number of compliments from my co-workers.

This bright contrasting outfit was in week 3 of my capsule plan. I like bright colors, but don’t usually wear this type of contrast. I saw a similar outfit on Pinterest though, and decided to give it a try. I’m so glad that I did – this turned out to be my absolute favorite outfit of the summer. I’ve had the items in this outfit for a while, so the picture shows similar items, not the actual ones I own, with the exception of the necklace.
How it looks on me:
My final favorite pick came from week 4. I love everything about this outfit. The chambray shirt is a staple, and you’ll see it in my fall capsule too. The leopard sandals added fun to so many outfits this summer (shared about that here). And I’d never been brave enough to try white shorts before (see more about that here), but I love this pair. They’ll make another appearance in next year’s summer capsule. (Somehow I missed getting a picture of myself in this outfit.)
The good news is there were not many flops in my summer capsule outfit plan. I don’t really even mind that there were a few – it helps me learn and plan for next time. For example, I learned that statement necklaces do not go with graphic t-shirts. I had planned to wear this outfit in week 3:
But as soon as I put it on I knew the mint statement necklace was just too much. I switched it out for the pink necklace, but even that didn’t really work for me in the end and I went without a necklace most of the day.
My other big flop involved anything with this pink shirt. I discovered that I really don’t like the shirt, and it doesn’t fit as well as I thought. I also don’t like wearing a belt with shirts tucked in – I think it just isn’t flattering on me. But this shirt didn’t look right in a summer outfit un-tucked. So this shirt will be leaving my home, and hopefully can be used by someone else who is better suited to it.
